Born from a Simple Question

Our Beginning

In 2018, Canadian engineer Michael Chen was renovating his Toronto home when he encountered a frustrating reality: smart toilets were either imported luxury items with questionable prices, or cheap imports with poor design. Nothing reflected Canadian values of quality, environmental responsibility, and honest craftsmanship.

The Question

"Why can't we design a world-class affordable smart toilet right here in Canada?"

The Journey

What began as a personal project evolved into a mission. Michael partnered with industrial designer Sophie Tremblay and environmental engineer David Kim. Together, they spent two years researching, prototyping, and testing.

The Result

In 2020, ALIK launched with a single model and a bold promise: to create the most sustainable, beautifully designed, intelligent toilets in North America—all while supporting Canadian manufacturing and jobs.
